I just purchased an 1800 PSI Pressure Washer. Question is, what should I put in the detergent tanks?

I want to do my deck, sidewalk, side of house... what do you put in the tanks for DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS? Such as wood/ aluminum siding/ etc?

thanksI just purchased an 1800 PSI Pressure Washer. Question is, what should I put in the detergent tanks?
There really is no one size fits all solution for cleaning. Deck cleaning should be done with a soium percarbonate based cleaner. Vinyl siding cleaning with something containing non ionic surfactants and sodium metasilicate (and bleach). Rust on a foundation needs an acid like oxalic. Sidewalks need a combination of bleach and caustics like sodium hydroxide. Cars need something gentle.

Be careful with running cleaning chemicals through whats called an ';upstreamer';. This pushes the chemicals through your pressure washing pump and will corrode it. Look for something called a ';downstreamer'; to apply chemicals. It goes on your pressure washer after the pump.

There are good products made for homeowner duty and distributed under the ';Zep'; line of cleaners. Look for them at Home Depot.I just purchased an 1800 PSI Pressure Washer. Question is, what should I put in the detergent tanks?
Generally speaking you want the detergent to soften and loosen the dirt on whatever it is you're cleaning. The pressure washer doesnt' apply the cleaner under pressure-just a weak stream. After the detergent has had time to work, the intense pressure cleans everything away.

All of that means that unless you're trying to clean algae or mold, use a little liquid soap as the detergent; for mold or algae use a mild bleach solution. Just remember that if you use bleach, and something becomes discolored, you can't fix it, so be careful on siding and wood.
Lowes or Home Depot sell specific duty cleaners in 1 gallon jugs. I at first thought it was a scam and was all the same. I tried different ones and they work pretty good. There's concrete cleaner, siding cleaner, car wash, degreaser, general cleaner, etc.

What is a good brand of pressure washer for a small business?

Make sure you get one with enuf pressue for what you are planning to wash. Also there are two different types of pumps used in these washers, check with good salesperson to get the best pump.

  • Cloths washer put soap in before it fills up with water or after it fills up?

Im asking this because my wife always wants me to wait till it fill up. Is one way better than the other?????Cloths washer put soap in before it fills up with water or after it fills up?
By putting the soap in after it fills up you will not have all of the suds and the problem that comes along with over sudsing. When you put the soap in first the tub will fill up with suds from the water pouring in.

Everyone has there own personal preference. In this case your wife wants you to add the soap after the tub fills. Keep in mind that this will make her happy. And it is a really easy job to do. It will also make your life a lot easier because you have made her happy by doing it her way.Cloths washer put soap in before it fills up with water or after it fills up?
I put my liquid laundry detergent in while the wash tub is filling that way it's fully dispersed in the water when I put my clothing in and I don't have to worry about spotting or stains from the detergent.. I also put in 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 the normal amount of detergent so I don't get a soapy film on my clothing.. .PLUS my clothing stays brighter/longer..

    good luck
it depends on the type of detergent you are using.

Liquid can go in after the machine fills,

Powder should go in first, it helps it dissolve.

other than that, it's personal preferance.

What does it mean when one windshield washer duct won't spray a steady spray?

It just comes out ever so slightly..i tried to use warm water in case it was clogged....should i use boiling water? What is the problem with it? Also sometimes my blades themselves get stuck and stop working while i am driving and they are just stuck on the windshield? What can i do to fix this problem? Thanks! What does it mean when one windshield washer duct won't spray a steady spray?
Its blocked, get a pin and shove down the hole, it should unbock itWhat does it mean when one windshield washer duct won't spray a steady spray?
The line is prolly stopped up. Sometimes it can be fixed by using a small pin and cleaning out the hole.
No, you probably shouldn't use boiling water. There are a lot of plastic and rubber parts in your windshield washer system and they could come loose if you do that.

    It could mean:

The nozzle is clogged - Try sticking a needle in it or something.

The pump is dying, and putting out too little pressure (the nozzles are usually in series on the same line) - I'm not sure how to test for this, but replacing it will cost you as little as 10-15 bucks if the pump is mounted separate from the tank, and up to 50 if it's integrated into it.

The hose is clogged - disconnect all the hoses and blow through them. Actually, you might as well just replace them, they're not expensive.

The hose is pinched or kinked. - Sometimes when the hood is closed, it pinches a hose. This would USUALLY mean that both nozzles won't spray, but it could be that only the second length of hose is pinched. This is not always easy to figure out how to fix, but it's simple enough to diagnose. Just pop the hood and try the windshield washer. If it works with the hood open, you've got a pinched hose. Figure out where the hood could be pinching it, and reroute the house a bit.

As for the wipers, could be your motor is going, could be something is just misaligned, could be something wrong with the controller.
What is the make and model
the spray nozzle is probably partially plugged up on the washer part of it ,as for the wipers them self the motor may be sticking it possibly going bad on it,it shouldn't stop mid way of the windshield, you may need to have this checked ,the wiper could go all the way out if its the moor going bad on it,and i wouldn't recommend adding boiling water to the tank it will bust it wide open in most cases, have it cleaned out,but add boiling hot water to it,that really wont hep it any, good luck hope this helps.
You might need to replace the entire wiper arm, not just the blades. Try using the windshield washer fluid instead of just water and wipe off the squirters.
It's probably plugged. Try blowing it out with air... ie. bike pump with a ball needle, or air compressor....
Hello I think maybe you can raise the hood and take the rubber hose off the metal piece and see if it comes out of the rubber part good. if it does there may be a little rock in the metal piece. you can use a straight pin or something little and push it out. hope this helps you! if the blades are sticking to the windshield clean the blades with a rag.
Plugged orifice or damaged washer fluid hose. ~
The w-w nozzle is probably clogged with calcium from the water. Clean out the nozzle with a thin piece of wire, and add w-w solution to the supply bottle. The blades are probably old, and the windshield dirty. Replace them. The wipers.
try taking the lines loose and blowing air thru them
your wiper blades should be replaced once a yr. as for the washer not working....check the line check for holes and kinks in the line. other than testing the good sprayer on the problem one will show if the sprayer is actually cloged.

Can you take a shower while washer machine is going?

Can you take a shower while washer machine is going?
It'll be fine but the water temp. might be a little different
you should be washing in cold water and in the shower, hopefully, you use hot. so yeah its fine

the pressure might not be as amazing as it would be by itself but you should hardly notice.
yeah, if u have really good insulation
    lol yes its okay
you can if you want to. but it won't be a very enjoyable shower cause your water is just gonna go from steaming to freezing to steaming to freezing to steaming to freezing to steaming..............

trust me i know from experience :)
yeah its fine like unless you have a small hot water tank and your washer is set on hot or warm........at my house the washer is set on cold so it doesnt matter if you shower and wash clothes at the same time
Yes you can but the water will run colder.
No, they will come and arrest you forever. It is against the law to wash 2 things in one day unless your are a janitor or maid.

OK here is the real answer

It depends on the water pressure and if the washing machine takes away the hot water when you are taking a shower.

When you find this out, the decision will be up to you.
yeah. jst pop in2 th wash machine when ur whites r washing
yea i do it tons of times
yes it's totally fine. i do so often
    yeah

    you can

if you have an old house the Temperature might be off

but it will not change anything
Of course you can. I mean you're not going to explode if you do.

I can cas the water pressure is 35 psi in the house all the time and I have a 40 gallon quick recover water heater. Plp in old houses has problems doing that because all the lime in their galvanized pipes. Copper is better.
    ya !!
Suggest that ,what may happen is the shower water temperature may fluctuate as the different cycles on the washing machine cuts in and out.
yes water temp may change as the wash get full or go,s into rinse most people know this
    yes, you should be ok
its fine but if you are using warm water in the wash, you might not get hot water when you shower. thats the only thing

What will remove the oder of cat spray/urine from stuffed animals and other things that can't go in the washer

HTHWhat will remove the oder of cat spray/urine from stuffed animals and other things that can't go in the washer
    frebreeze
I've tried so many products over the course of my life and nothing has really ever worked before. If you can't put it in the washer machine and wash it several times. Just don't dry it. It will pry always come back, the stench that is. If you can neutralize it. Urine is a base so you would have to have a similar strength acid then I don't think it would ever really happen. So wash um, or toss um, or live with it.
If you want something that is quick and safe for people and animals, i suggest you use febreeze for animal odors. Or just use odo-ban.

Think about going to the grocery store and looking at some types of animal odor removers!

    :]

Hope I was of any help to you!
Personally, I would just get rid of the stuffed animals and buy new ones.
I use Bac Out from Bio Kleen if I've got stuff that cats have sprayed. However, if it can't be completely cleaned, then the smell will probably never leave.

The stuffed animals can be washed (and may have to be more than once). You can spray the area with something first, and you can also add a cup of baking soda to the wash. This will really help remove the odor.

If you don't want to or can't wash the shag pillows then you might be out of luck. You'll probably have to live with the smell or toss them. If you decide to toss them, why not have a go at washing them first? Ya never know!

P.S. Make sure you wash in COLD water! Warm or hot will set it in, and then you're pretty much out of luck. Also, don't put in the dryer until you're sure the odor is really gone.

roper is a good brand..when we were looking to buy a set we went to the consumer report(membership) roper was one of the top rated
I had a crosley washer and dryer, and it was constant problems. (Repaired 3x during the 2 years I owned it. The 4 time it broke, we decided to just buy another rather than fix it). I would strongly suggest buying a make other than crosley. Good Luck.

Recall the volume of the sphere: V = (4/3)蟺R^3

    Volume of the hole: V2 = V = (4/3)蟺9^3

some you can, but most you cant, i dont know which ones you can and cant, i wouldnt recommend it, just get some show cleaner and a cloth
yes but only sneakers - not fancy shoes
I wash our sneakers in the washer, but I wouldn't put my suede boots or dress shoes in the machine.
i have washed them before, but they usually shrink if they are canvas... some people wash them in the dishwasher on the top rack, too...

Washing and drying clothes are at complete odds. Think about it:

    - To wash clothes, you want to completely immerse them in soapy water and provide agitation. (Note that I ignore front-load washers because, while they may be currently in vogue, they do not completely immerse the laundry, and any high school chemistry student can therefore provide scientific proofs why front-load washers aren't very good.)

    - To dry clothes, you want to tumble them (horizontal drum) in hot air.

So, you're taking the worst features of a front-load washer (incomplete immersion of laundry, mechanical complexity, cute little rubber door seals, long cycle times, etc.) and adding them to a dryer (large air passages, big fan, heating elements) all within the confines of the cabinet of one major appliance which must pass through two foot doorways.

If you have seriously restricted real estate, go for it, but be aware they will always be more labor intensive (and therefore expensive) to repair. Expensive repairs means shorter lifespans, because people pitch things which are expensive to repair. Any claims of environmental benefit should be easily dismissed on a more frequent replacement basis.

Otherwise, get yourself a good top-load washer (1950-1995 Maytag, 1960-1990 GE, etc.) and a good dryer (1950-1995 Maytag, 1960-1990 GE, etc.) and spend a few bucks having their drive belts changed. No one makes good major appliances anymore, and complexity only makes it even worse by adding more points of failure.

If you're concerned about water efficiency (which you should be), consider using the used wash water to fill your toilet, like I did:

I have cleaned the drawer loads of times, but this does not help.I have an Hotpoint Aquarius Washer. The fabric conditioner will not go through into the wash. Can anyone help?
Remove and wash the detergent tray in hot soapy water. While the tray is out look at the top of the tray housing on the washing machine, you will see a set of small holes where the water is added to the conditioner, these holes sometime become blocked. You can use a small nail brush to scrub these holes or if that doesn't work use a thick (darning) needle.

Hope this helps.I have an Hotpoint Aquarius Washer. The fabric conditioner will not go through into the wash. Can anyone help?
I have found this from a Hotpoint site for you, I have also pasted the link in for you in the source section, if you need any further help with your washing machine.

Failure of your Hotpoint Washing Machine to remove the fabric conditioner from the appropriate section of the dispenser is usually due to a blockage within the detergent dispenser itself.

Remove the conditioner compartment, clean dispenser draw and housing in hot soapy water to remove any blockages and re try the wash process. Also some concentrated conditioners need to be diluted by mixing them with water prior to the start of the programme. Finally check that the feet are level and the Hotpoint WAshing Machine is not too low on the front as this could prevent the fabric conditioner being rinsed away.

I pour hot water in mine now and again and wash the drawer out regularly. do a few washes without anything in the drawer (use tablets instead) to give it chance to clear.
Try adding water to the conditioner when you put it in the drawer

It happened to me and that's what I done and it all goes through :)
Maybe you have a blocked tube , take the top off , checkthe tube,s
The tube might be blocked or you have it on the wrong programme

The vinegar smell dissipates as it dries.I left my clothes in the washer and now they have a sour smell to them. How can I get rid of that sour smell?
    vinegar

1 tblspn to the wash load and simply rewash as usualI left my clothes in the washer and now they have a sour smell to them. How can I get rid of that sour smell?
Rewash, but add a cap or 2 full of vinegar. This usually does the trick. It also helps with white clothes.
    Wash them again.

The smell is mildew, which loves the damp environment of wet clothes sitting in the washer.
Actually sometimes just washing them again does no good. Every washer has an area below the tub surface that retains water, that also goes stagnant. We have this issue with our washer, sometimes fresh laundry that has just completed has a sour smell. what I do is add about a half a box of baking soda to the load of laundry along with the soap and rewash, clothes will come out smelling fresh and clean.
Re-wash them again %26amp; in the final rinse add a cup of white vinegar.:)
    REEEEEWAAAASH!
I allways put them in there and wash them again and it works fine for me.
When this happens to me the only thing that eliminates the smell is washing them again.
You need to wash them again . then add some fabric softener to the final rinse which always leaves clothes smelling fresh and clean
    Rewash them.

New bath towels ';shedding'; in the washer and dryer?

Is it just me, or do new bath towels seem to shed and get lint all over themselves and everything else when you put them in the washer and then dryer for the first several times? If you go to a Ford garage they'll charge you far more than it's worth.

It's only the washer reservoir - any cap that fits will do. It's not under any pressure.

Alternatively, you could try a breaker's yard. They will probably let you have one for nothing.

It's perfectly safe to drive without one. If it's full up all that will happen is that someof the water will slosh out. I don't know how big the cap is on a Ka, but what about trying a milk bottle cap, or something like that. Anything will do - it's just there to stop dirt getting in (and this blocking up the water pipes, and that will be a pain to get sorted) and to stop the water sloshing out.My Ford Ka is missing its washer fluid reservoir lid. I would beware of adding anything to fluid container as it could harden %26amp; weaken the tubes %26amp; fluid container itself.
rubbing alcohol or vinegar will help keep it from freezing up a little,if you can wrap the reservoir with an old towel this helps it a lot,it acts like a blanket for it,but sometimes we cant beat the cold, good luck maybe this will help.
yes !!!! but you would have to get into the liquor cabinet,,,
try adding a half a cup of vinegar, should work unless it gets below zero and it will help with getting the crud off your window easier
    vinegar
a bottle of rubbing alcohol or some whiskey if you have some laying around.
rubbing alcohol, pour 1/3 - 1/2 a botttle in it
3 parts vinegar to 1part water

Whats the name of the song in the commercial of the LG washer and dryer?

This is what i came up with for you, hope it is of some help..

    ';';I actually believe the song in the commercial is a B-side remix from, of all groups, Wham. It was an instrumental Double-Tracker remix of their ';The Edge of Heaven'; song with Martha Reeves ';Heatwave'; song. Bottomline is that it is definitely the song ';Heatwave';. However, it was tweaked enough with trombone and trumpet in a danceable remix sort of way, that it is a catchy 30 second tune for a commercial.';';';

I want to buy a new washer and dryer unit and stack the for my laundry room?

I am looking at spending btw 600-800 on each. I almost bought a Kenmore 3.6 cu ft HE 2 from Sears but have since read bad things about excessive vibration and some other problems. Does anybody have any recommendations or advice. Thanks in advanceI want to buy a new washer and dryer unit and stack the for my laundry room?
Front loaders will vibrate..you can purchase a rubber foot to place them on to help the vibration problems. If you are putting your set on a main floor or top floor and not in the basement, they can be loud and as stated before, will vibrate. I would encourage you to make sure the floor is reinforced if not in the basement. I have a Maytag Epic Z pair and am very happy with the way they clean, though they do vibrate. I have mine stacked. My daughter has a pair of Samsungs and she is very happy with them too...and hers are in the basement on cement and will vibrate too, but not as much as mine...hers are not stacked.I want to buy a new washer and dryer unit and stack the for my laundry room?
    Hi,

If you type the washer or dryer you are thinking of buying into google with the word reviews, you can often view what other people have written about the product. eg. type 'kenmore 3.6 reviews' into google. I have done this a lot for many things I have been thinking of buying. There are also lots of websites that will tell you the best washer/dryers according to water rating, electricity usage, noise level etc.

How can I get my Whirlpool washer/dryer to dry?!?

I'm trying ti use my boyfriends' washer/dryer - clothes washing machine. I set it to 60 degrees drying time 60 mins - the stuff is washed, but wont dry. I really need to know how to make it dry, i presumed it would happen automatically after the wash is finished.

How can I get it to dry the things that are in there?

Please help, I cant find the manual! How can I get my Whirlpool washer/dryer to dry?!?
Check the lint filter to be sure that the warm, moist air can be exhausted away from the wet clothes. Also, check the opening where the exhuat empties out side. That opening could be blocked with lint also. If this doesn't work make sure that all breakers are set and that none of them are tripped. Some dryers operate on tow-hundred and twenty volts and have two one-ten lines operating them. If you do not feel that you have the ability to further attempt to make the repair, call a professional. Be safe and not sorry.

I have a repair question about washer that's less than a year old?

I have a Frigidaire top loading washing machine that is less than a year old. It's been working fine and now all of a sudden, no matter what size load I do it doesn't spin all the water out and I have to manually reset every load to spin it down one more cycle. Before I spend $100 on a service call, does anyone have any suggestions for me?I have a repair question about washer that's less than a year old?
If it's less than a year old, you should still be under warranty, unless you were not the original purchaser (and even then, some mfrs will honor a warranty to one new owner).

If you're the purchaser, contact the store where you purchased and ask about the maintenance/service terms (don't let them sell you a service agreement - those are usually a waste of money unless you read them carefully).

If the store is no help, contact Frigidaire directly. Their website may have a list of known problems, and it's possible there was a recall for the problem you're describing. Also, they may describe your problem and how to fix it yourself.

    Good luck!

I have a repair question about washer that's less than a year old?
If your washer USED to do a good job of spinning out the wash and rinse waters, and you haven't greatly increased the loadings; I would think that the serpentine belt that makes everything work has stretched -- maybe to the point of being just before *breaking*. There IS an automatic 'tension-er pulley' to adjust for stretching of the belt, but it may be at its outer limit.

I suggest that you call in a reliable, recommended washer repair person to check out your machine, before it just might QUIT working at all -- having a broken serpentine belt.
You're using too much detergent. Cut down to about 1/2 of the amount specified on the detergent label.
Reduce or use HE detergent. Too much suds will not allow the pump to expel all of the water.
have you cleaned the tub drain?? how about checking the discharge hose??

Any suggestions or reviews? I'm frugal but I'm not sure about buying used. Looking for specific brand comparison.I am moving to a new place and have to buy a washer, dryer, and fridge.?
You should try a home improvement center, like Lowe's, and see what kind of scratch and dent models the have marked down. If you want to buy used, do some research first to know what the going prices are for used items. Also, check with thrift store places, like Goodwill and The Salvation Army.I am moving to a new place and have to buy a washer, dryer, and fridge.?

We want to remodel our kitchen and the problem is that the washer and dryer are in it behind closet doors.....

we have a house that has the washer and dryer off to the side in the kitchen behind bifold doors. I would like to take down the faux closet and doors and utilize that space more without the washer and dryer sticking out. I have seen that one way to do this is to have front end loaders and build a cabinet/ countertop around them so it blends in with the rest of the coutertops in the kitchen. Any other alternative ideas? ThanksWe want to remodel our kitchen and the problem is that the washer and dryer are in it behind closet doors.....
That is one way to do it. What we did was to place our washer and dryer in the bathroom. My mother did the same thing with her bathroom, actually removing the bath tub to put the washer and dryer in that area. She has another full bath and didn't need the extra tub. I, however, had a big enough area to have both the washer and dryer in there, plus have the full bath. People think I am crazy, but since we wash and change our clothes in the bathroom, it is very handy to throw clothes directly in the washing machine. You could do so much more with this space rather than have a washer %26amp; dryer taking it up. If you have a utility closet in the hall or something, you can get an over-n-under washer and dryer and place it in there too.

There are litle pumps that Home Depot sells for about $100. They start at a specific morning hour (set to before you wake up and need hot water) and shut off late at night (when you probably don't need it any more). They connect to the hot and cold water lines and pump the colder hot water back into the cold water line based on a thermostat you set. Best way to clean paving slabs on my patio without a pressure washer?

Good question. One that has plagued man for about 2oo years now. Firstly, if you can remove the slabs one by one, this would make life easier. So, get your slab. Take it into the bathroom and submerse it in a bath of hot water. Get a bag of sugar and some vinegar. About a litre of malt is good. Then you will need a kilo of salt, and some lemons. About seven are good. Your going to fill up the bath with all the ingredients. Give it all a good stir and leave to soak for about 48 hours. This will allow the sugar and lemons to activate the vinegar and basically recharge the slabs to new. Then you can do the same for all the other slabs.Best way to clean paving slabs on my patio without a pressure washer?
Stiff brush and bleach!!!Best way to clean paving slabs on my patio without a pressure washer?
getin on your knees n washing them by hand
BLEACH and elbow grease, u can buy the former from just about every shop, as for the latter, u might get it online....try Ebay!
hmm, id go for the raiding the kitchen cuboards approach and go for, baking soda, bit of vinegar warm water and a stiff brush :-) . either that or id turn the paving slabs over
The DIY shops sell patio cleaner. Jeyes are one of the manufacturers. Spray it on, and use a stiff brush to scrub it around the slabs, then hose it off.
    Wet Patio

Spread sharp sand on patio (wickes sell sharp sand)

    Hard scrub with stiff broom

    rinse off
The easies way is to pay someone but if you want to do it without a pressure washer go to B%26amp;Q or a DIY store and get some brick acid. dilute this in a watering can an apply to the area, use a stiff brush and scrub the area.

After you have finished hose the area or pour loads of water on it to remove surface dirt and silt
Good scrub brush and some cheap powdered detergent, and some elbow grease. You can purchase long handled bristle brushes.
I dampen the area down then rub in bleach and sprinkle washing powder over the area scrub it well in and leave it for a few hours and then rinse. Works for me.
I use a stiff broom and bleach,Kills algae and moss on it too.
Brick acid .... sounds too much , but it will work.... brush over with a broom wash off ....(wear gloves ...)
Wet the slabs first then use a solution of bleach and water applied with a watering can, scrub all over using a stiff yard broom - no bending required. Then rinse off with clear water and brush down. Works every time and is as good as proprietary cleaners that you can get from B%26amp;Q etc.
You can buy patio %26amp; pavement cleaner at your D.I.Y and garden store. Follow the instructions on the container and use a stiff broom and hosepipe to wash down.
Try using soapy water, and a push broom to scrub, and then just rinse. It works for me.
beer line cleaner. It really does work.
    Depends what is on them. If it is grease from a BBQ then first you are going to have to hit it with a grease cutter(soapy hot water and a scrub brush) or strong solution of TSP and rinse off that stuff. Then a solution of Muriatic acid will work on the cement slabs to cut a brighter - like new look to them - follow instructions to a ';T';

You could try BioWash cement cleaner - I have not used the product but hear it is an easier way to go...found in hardware stores.
The cost of all this stuff is quite high and you can get a fairly cheap pressure washer for almost the same amount.Buy patio cleaner from B%26amp;Q then swill some diluted bleach over them and let it dry out and then seal the patio with patio sealer from B%26amp;Q. This helps to keep them clean for longer.
First sweep or hose off the slabs. Then spray a 50/50 bleach solution on the slabs and scub with a stiffle bristle broom. lest sit for 20 minutes and rinse. Repeat if necessary. Be careful not to get the bleach solution on surrounding vegitation. Spray plants liberally before and after.
30 second cleaner spray on leave and then just hose down
Get a good hard out door broom, wet it with fairy liquid and water and scrub like mad. Works for me, i tend to do it regularly so it is a bit easier to do.
Bowl with warm water and bleach and a tough brush.

What is the best cheapest pressure washer from walmart?

McCulloch 1400 PSI Electric Pressure Washer for $79.56 if they have it in stock at your local store. What is the best cheapest pressure washer from walmart?
walmart toolsa re junk..I also have not seen any electric pressure washers that I would buy..when the seals go out or grommets to the wands etc..you have to buy a whole new gun /wand usually..or if you can get the necessary gromets you end up waiting 2 weeks for deliveryWhat is the best cheapest pressure washer from walmart?
Electric pressure washers are best for small jobs - washing cars, decks, etc. I bought a gas-powered pressure washer from Lowe's - a TroyBilt. I have used it quite a bit and love it. It has great power and will clean concrete fast. If you are short on cash, the electric is OK. I would save my money and buy a gas-powered of at least 2500 psi capacity and 2.2 gpm.
Any pressure washer from walmart is pure junk.Save your money and by a real one,not a piece of crap from china.
I have to agree with buying anything from Wal mart is junk. Save your money and buy something that is worthwhile. In fact, I was in Sears Grand, and I talked to a salesman about pressure washers. He recommended that most people need a medium duty kind. He said to stay away from Karcher, they aren't that good. Also, if you have never used one, read the manual and read it again. It is very easy to blow up the pump on these things. If it is offered, go with the service plan,so even if the pump goes, it is covered. He said it would cost $300 to $400 to replace the pump. And lastly, DON'T lend it out to your friends unless you have that extra coverage. Good Luck!

Someone told me to try it and they said it worked for them, but I'm scared.Has anyone ever sat on a washer to induce labor?
I never thought of that. I guess it would be the same as a bumpy car ride. And probably less painful then walking 2 miles at a brisk pace after virtually no exercise the last 9 months ( my legs are killing me)

lol.. I would try it if i could, but my washer and dryer are stacked on top of eachother in a closet, so I don't think I can fit ;)

I truely don't think that it would do your baby harm.

AND, the washer might even be better, on spin cycle. lol
Never actually heard that one before. AlthoughI don't see how it can hurt you as long as you are full term.
LOL I never ever would have thought of that I doing think it would hurt!

I have a front-loading Maytag washer and the tub fills w/water but doesn't drain. Any suggestions?

It may be cheaper to buy a new one.I have a front-loading Maytag washer and the tub fills w/water but doesn't drain. Any suggestions?
I had a similar problem this week. Was sold the wrong parts. Took the old pump apart for sh its and giggles. A damn finishing nail was jammed in it. Put it back together and it works fine.I have a front-loading Maytag washer and the tub fills w/water but doesn't drain. Any suggestions?
call Maytag repair man....hes probably not busy
Dennis is most likely correct. Just remove the hose from the pump inlet and see if there is something inside and clean it out.
Maytags front loaders are complicated. The possibilities are endless. It's not DIY project.

Possible problems: bad wax motor on the door lock, bad control board, blocked or bad pump(rear access for the electric pump). On some models a bad wax motor burned out the control board. I'm sorry, repair instructions are too detailed to give you. You need to call for service.
I have had 4 front loaders. They are very simple designs, the pump is suseptable to jam with nicles, domes, and pennies. pump cover comes off to clean out usually located below tub in front of washer.

  • Washer drain backed up and plumber thinks it's due to rain? Possible?

It rained hard yesterday and I noticed our washer drain was backing up and spewing water all over. I called to have him come snake it and he didn't and said it was just because of the rain and that it would right itself soon. Can that happen?Washer drain backed up and plumber thinks it's due to rain? Possible?
Find a plumber who needs to earn a living!

It can happen if your laundry drains to an open, rain flooded culvert, or over taxed storm sewer - which is no longer permitted.Washer drain backed up and plumber thinks it's due to rain? Possible?
Get another plumber - this one is insane. Unless your washer is draining into a swamp that's higher than your house, rain isn't going to cause it to back up. Sounds like you have a blockage somewhere that needs to be removed before you use your washer again.
Believe it or not it can. My in-laws live out in the country. When the ground is saturated from several days of rain they often have problems. I think it has something to do with there the Gray water feeds out onto their property. Where it feeds out get waterlogged very quickly. They were just talking about moving some of the pipes where it drains into the yard in the hopes that this will not be such a problem.
If your washer has a typical stand-pipe drain behind the washer, this is nearly impossible. Water seeks it's own level. If rain is causing the problem, all of your bathtubs and toilets on the same floor would be backed up also. You have a blockage in the washer drainline. Washers have this problem due to the lint that comes off clothes when washed.
Well, I suppose it could if the ground is so soaked that water is running back up the drain. Sounds unlikely though. Perhaps you have roots growing in the drain from your house.
Nothing is impossible. But your toilet bowel should have backed up too. We don't know if you were using the washer at the time. So only guessin'

What can I do about Sears Canada not willing to resolve a serious problem with my Kenmore washer?

I bought a Kenmore washer 5 years ago which has been leaking almost since I got it. No one can ever give me a straight answer or fix it. The last repair man they sent was not only extremely rude (even looked me up and down while talking to me and really made me uncomfortable) but said it would cost more than the machine was worth to fix and I should just buy a new machine. He then said he would temporarily fix the leak so I could use the machine a few times until I decided whether to get it fixed or buy a new one. When I tried to use the machine my floor was flooded and I also noticed a huge tear in the linoleum I had just had installed. I have phoned at least 10 times and sent 5 emails - I got a few calls saying someone would get back to me but they took their time %26amp; the person I finally spoke to was of no help - he said it was normal for such an expensive washer to only last a few years! There is much more to this story but not enough room - any ideas what I can do?What can I do about Sears Canada not willing to resolve a serious problem with my Kenmore washer?
    sears??? wow i am shocked

    did you get a manager..

like at sears not the repairman

and if you don't like that answer get a supervisor..

not demanding..cause 5 years has passed...but even if you got a pro rate..discount..don't forget the extended warranty?? did you accept that when you bought the appliance???

not saying ..but even for a court case the time limit is 2 years.

i would talk real nice to lots of people..and see what they offer.

also Sears appliance guys are on commission..so if you go back to the store..and get the appliance manager..he may swing you a great deal as a come-back..sale.. which would be cheaper than the repair. not saying anything will work..cause it is 5 years..but be creative.. it is 5 years..keep at it and be polite and persistant..

i got a great deal from Sears on a digi cam..just by being polite..What can I do about Sears Canada not willing to resolve a serious problem with my Kenmore washer?
Sears is great at working with customers that have issues. I would go to the store that you made the purchase (if possible) locate the department manager and explain your difficulties. Be specific about the problem(s) and ask him/her what Sears can do to help you. If the department manager cannot help, ask for the store manager. If everything FAILS, call your local TV station and ask them to investigate Sears. That normally gets A FAST response.
I would call the Better Business Bureau, that oversees such stores and see what they tell you/ . I would find out the name of the head one of the store and write to him/her and explain whats been happening, list all calls and dates of when you contacted Sears. I have a Kenmore for the past 20 years and the only thing that I have replaced was the dial on the top of the machine. So he's full of baloney they do last a long time.

Is the ';permenant press'; setting on my washer the same as ';delicate';?

My washer only has regular and pp settings, so I'm not sure how to wash my delicates. Is the ';permenant press'; setting on my washer the same as ';delicate';?
hand wash your delicates dear in wool lite it works really well . good luck and god bless. Is the ';permenant press'; setting on my washer the same as ';delicate';?
no, permanent press is not for delicates i dont think...

just wash your delicates by hand in the sink and use Woolite or something
On our washing machine, delicate is similar to hand wash - these are two separate settings on our dial. Permanent Press is similar to regular except the final spin doesn't remove all the water. From our machine, the clothes are wetter than regular cycle final spins so they can dry without wrinkling. Never the case.

I'd handwash the delicates and not bother with the machine. (On a machine we had years ago, there was a smaller tub that fit over the agitator for small and delicate loads. If you have one of those, try the machine.)

  • My washer won't agitate or spin, any advice on what it could be?

I just ran a load about 1 hour ago and put in another load. I had no troubles with it the first time. The second time, it would start to spin and then stop (making the lights in the house dim too) and now it will fill, but it won't agitate or spin either. I did not overload it either. It is a super capacity washer and I only put in about half a load.

What could be the problem? My washer won't agitate or spin, any advice on what it could be?
first check the timer to see if it advances, with your hand, transmission defective, timer defective, water level switch defective, drive motor defective, motor start relay defective, open motor protector, lid switch defective, loose or broken drive belt, this could be some or one of your problems. My washer won't agitate or spin, any advice on what it could be?
Thanx. Sorry about not choosing a best answer myself, we are still actually working on it trying to see what the problem really is...plus we had other things going on. Report Abuse

From the symptoms of excessive load on line(dimming lamps on start mode) the most probable cause is a faulty start capacitor(may be 50mfd?)of the washer motor. Check for a disconnected motor wiring for obvious faults. You can test the capacitor for open/short ckt in a series lamp test. If you know elementary electrical safety charge %26amp; discharge the capacitor as a test. Replace a faulty capacitor to the correct mfd capacity. If the motor winding is burnt you may know by the burn smell.
It sounds like one of the belts may have either broken or slipped during the first load. There is a big belt under the machine that drives the tub. It's just about like the fan belt in your car. It wraps around the motor pulley and then around the tub or it's pulley. If that were to snap, or slip off a pulley, it might get wedged in the works underneath and stop the thing from being able to move. The dimming of the lights is happening because the motor is straining to move against this resistance.

Changinf a washer belt... especially on one that is full of water, is a real bull-work pain in the ***. You will be best off to call an appliiance repair guy. Take heart... this is about the cheapest thing that can go wrong!
try replacing the relay switch or check to see if the belt broke if you have one
The transmission is hanging up or the motor is shot and pulling too many amps.
Could be the belt that turns the tub.

We had that happen and it was easy to fix.
check the coupin between the motor and transmission
I agree, it could possibly be a coupling. Go to the following web site and it may be able to help you out. http://www.repairclinic.com/0047_11.asp ...Good Luck...
I had the same thing happen.

It's from constant overloading. there are some little plastic things under the agitator.

It took the repair guy 10 minutes to repair.
Sounds like you've got either a bad motor, or a bad transmission.

www.repairclinic.com is a great source for both model-specific repair instructions and replacement parts.

Sometimes a cam will fail on the transmission, that's fairly easy/cheap to replace. But it may be time to get a new washer.

Dryer not working on my Zanussi Jetsystem washer dryer?

I assume that you have been taking half of the washed items out before you tumble dry, if not thats your problem.Dryer not working on my Zanussi Jetsystem washer dryer?
Hard to say really, is it a condensor dryer? Are the clothes getting warm or not? If not then an element needs replacing, wouldn't cost much. If they are getting warm, then there's something wrong with the condensor unit, would cost a bit more to repair.
It could be knackered. Washer/dryers are not the most reliable things in the world. The element to the dryer may have failed.

It might be worth getting an engineer out to have a look. Make sure it is at a fixed price.
Sounds like the heater for the dryer.

My cat keeps on jumping behind the washer and dryer what can i do to deter this?

Just got boots a week ago. The washer and dryer is in the bathroom with her litter box and food.

Can't use the other bathroom cause it's getting remodled. Tried stuffing sheets around the area so she can't do it and she still mananges to fall through.

Any way I can get her to stop or deter her from doing it.My cat keeps on jumping behind the washer and dryer what can i do to deter this?
She probably likes to play/hide back there. That's pretty normal for them, but if you want her to stop, try putting 2 sided tape where she'll feel it. They hate that. You can get a big roll at a pet store like petco. Or keep a water spray bottle close and squirt her everytime she does that. She will get the point! My cat keeps on jumping behind the washer and dryer what can i do to deter this?
There is a product called Sticky Paws that works like two sided tape, except it won't harm kitty like actual tape would. Put it on top of the washer/dryer and after touching it once, she won't jump back up there.

    http://www.stickypaws.com/
I had that problem. My husband suggested to get a water bottle and ever time he /she goes behind it. wet him. i know it sounds horrible but it works.....did for me.
Yes. Sprinkle a good amount of black or white pepper behind each appliance. It will do no more than make her sneeze, and she'll quickly learn not to go there!

What's with laundry soap w/a touch of fabric softener ? I always was told it cuts the suds in the washer and .

Then also prevents static. So how is the soap going to clean right if it has a cutting agent added? And to tell you Tide oversuds so it must not even contain it then right ,or it would not do that. And you still have to add Downey cause you get static anyway so is this just another marketing gimick or what ?What's with laundry soap w/a touch of fabric softener ? I always was told it cuts the suds in the washer and .
You do not need lather to clean effectively. That is put in there for our benefit, b/c how weird would it be to shampoo your hair w/o lather? Or wash clothes w/o seeing some foam at the top? We're just conditioned to see bubbles; they are not necessary. (for reference: see automatic dishwasher detergent or ';he'; high effieciency machine detergent; no suds at all!)

What I want to know is, who wants fabric softener on thei rtowels? Thet just makes them waterproof, then you have to use them jsut to slick the water off of you! Blech. What's with laundry soap w/a touch of fabric softener ? I always was told it cuts the suds in the washer and .
The fabric softener is added to the wash after all the cleaning is done with the laundry detergent. That's why you have the Downy ball to use or the little cup for fabric softener in your washer. It adds it in the rinse cycle. It does help reduce the static and the amount of wrinkles, besides giving them a nice smell. I don't ever use the dryer sheets now. You don't need them if you use fabric softener.
I just use it because I like how it makes the clothes smell... It probably is just a gimmick, but they'll make it sound good for the sale of their product.

Maytag Washer MAV5000AWW on spin cycle loosing it speed, doesn't dry closes well enough. What's a problem?

It's top loading Maytag Washer MAV5000AWW approximately 8 years old. On spin cycle loosing it speed, doesn't dry closes well enough so we have to spin it over and over again. What's a common problem? I replaced transmission, motor, pulley and belt. Still doesn't spin fast.Maytag Washer MAV5000AWW on spin cycle loosing it speed, doesn't dry closes well enough. What's a problem?
Sounds like your drive clucth is worn... This is similar to a clutch in a car, and if you've ever driven a car with a bad clutch you'll know that it doesn't matter how much gas you give it, the car won't move... Same principle with a washer, when the drive clutch gets worn it just doesn't grab hard enough to spin a tub full of clothes...Maytag Washer MAV5000AWW on spin cycle loosing it speed, doesn't dry closes well enough. What's a problem?
I think this is a common problem (maybe related to the pump???). Have you tried www.repairclinic.com? They helped me find the problem with my stove and dryer.
sounds like the waterpump to me....
Could be belt slipping. Unplug, get behind washer, if there is a inspection plate remove it. Find belt, find belt adjustment screw. loosen screw, pull belt tight using hammer handle on motor to pry. (do not over tighten) While holding tension on motor tighten the adjustment screw...

Will the Express Wash on my HE washer wash my clothes efficiently? Do I always have to use the Normal cycle?

My friend always uses the Express setting. I always use the Normal setting. The express setting is about 25 minutes faster than express, but will be clothes be adequately cleaned. This is low to average dirt everyday wash. ThanksWill the Express Wash on my HE washer wash my clothes efficiently? Do I always have to use the Normal cycle?
I have a front loader and usually use the quick wash setting on mine, it's fine for average dirty clothing. Clothes come out clean and with less wear and tear. For dirtier clothes I use the normal setting. Will the Express Wash on my HE washer wash my clothes efficiently? Do I always have to use the Normal cycle?
It's going to depend on your specific washer. Why not just try a few loads on the express setting and see how they turn out?

Personally, I've always had better results using a setting with an extra rinse cycle, but I think I've always used crappy washers.

  • Why do people think you can't wash a feather pillow in the washer? I do it all the time with no problems.

Washing is more harmful to the feathers (breaks them down leaving a lot of the 'sticks' from the feathers).

The hard part too is getting them dry (which I would suggest using tennis balls to help 'fluff' the feathers and spread them out during the drying process).

The normal way they clean feathers is to put it in a machine that cleans them by using ozone, it sanitizes them and it's much gentler on the feathers...which is why people pay to have this done.

Hope that helps!!Why do people think you can't wash a feather pillow in the washer? I do it all the time with no problems.
That was my question. I'd like to know what people think about it as well. :-) I do know that the feathers smell pretty bad when they get wet, maybe that is why?Why do people think you can't wash a feather pillow in the washer? I do it all the time with no problems.
I do as well, i think the problem or misconception is people think that because a few feathers appear in the lint that is it leaking.
tennis balls or sneakers work just fine n the dryer with your feathered pillows or clothing.
No idea that everyone didn't. Drying it is a pain though - smelly.
    Yeah!

My cat peed on mine a few months ago, and I HAD to wash it (obviously), and was freaking out about drying it..

It came out fluffier and nicer than it was before I washed it.

BUT... I believe after multiple washes, the feathers break down over time. I may be wrong, but I think that's what I was told.

    Frigidaire washer not spinning?

i have a front loader Frigidaire that i have had about 3 or 4 yrs now. It just stop spinning and leaves the clothes very wet all other cycles work and it does turn regularly with the normal cycles it just doesn't spin. Also i have not had any problems with the door lock it still works fine. What is wrong with it and how do i fix it?Frigidaire washer not spinning?
Unfortunately, It's not an easy thing to diagnose. The motor speed which must go to high for proper spin is controlled by the motor speed control board. It is located in the bottom right rear. You can only get to it by removing the fill hoses and taking off the back. It could be the rpm sensor on the motor itself. This would require a new motor. The door lock could still be at fault. It has three switches on it. Frigidaire came with two types of controls. Manual timer or all electronic(push button). The electronic version could also be bad. Sorry, you can't tell the defective part just by looking. You need a service tech. Make sure it is someone familiar with Frigidaire front loaders.Frigidaire washer not spinning?
could be the spin belt pulley.
You and me both. This is a very common problem with the front loaders, I see free washers of this sort all day long with one problem, they won't spin.

So far as I know there is no answer. I've tried lessening the loads, heavying the loads, speaking to the washer kindly, all sorts of things. Sometimes it spins, sometimes it goes through bouts of depression where it refuses to spin the water out of anything.

So what I did was, I got another top loading washer for free, and when the water in the front loading washer isn't totally out, I throw it in the top loading washer and only use the spin cycle. This washer isn't hooked up to water at all, it's just plugged into the wall, and it's outlet hose drains in the laundry room sink.

When washing clothes, a disposable diaper was put in washer...How do I get the gel from diaper out of washer?

If all else fails I would try filling up the washer on a small load setting, let it agitate for a moment (to release anything trapped in the outer barrel), and then suck all of the water out using a shop vac. This way it may get what would usually be trapped between both barrels. Hope this works!!When washing clothes, a disposable diaper was put in washer...How do I get the gel from diaper out of washer?
try a big load of hot water and lots of dawn soap .. the kind that fights grease. no cloths just hot water and dawn

My physics calss is making a machine to pick up a washer and put it in a cup, any ideas?

it has to be at lest 4 simple machines, with no electricity. high school physics class. My physics calss is making a machine to pick up a washer and put it in a cup, any ideas?
Well i would use a falling weight running through a pulley(1) to pass a magnet over the washer(use the surface the magnet is following to keep the two seperated a bit). The magnet can be mounted to the bottom of a car with wheels and axels(2). Once picked up it can follow an inclined plane(3) up to the just over the cup where the magnet and washer will be seperated from each other by the track forming a wedge(4) between them.

Some questions. Does the washer sit on the table or can you have it up on something so you can get under it? Do you get more points for simplicity or for haveing more simple machines??My physics calss is making a machine to pick up a washer and put it in a cup, any ideas?
a movable magnet behind an aluminum shield is a great way to get around the electricity problem, at least for picking it up and dropping it.
It has to be a Rube Goldberg Machine. It has to have at least 4 simple machines. We can't touch it more than the initial move to start it. It has to pick up and move a waher at least 6cm and drop it into a cup. It can't use electricity but it can use a magnet

use some water to find out where it's leaking from, if it's the hose or the container itself, if it is the container and the crack isn't too big you can let it dry out real good and then use some aquarium sealer on the crack and let it dry good. should help! How to fix a leak in w the windshield washer fluid?
The bottle has a crack in it or the hose that connects to the spray nozzles has come off of the bottle. Use water and pour it in and look on the bottle to see where it is leaking from, if it is comong out of the bottle at the seam then you will need a new bottle.
there,s probably a crack in the bottom of the reservoir. i had a crack on 1 once so what i did was dryed it off and put some duct tape on it. it did,nt leak again.

A standard water heater is 40 gallons. I think the question for you is how many family members? We've always had a 40 gallon heater, and we have a family of 5.

We always had to make sure a couple of us took showers at night, or we would run out in the morning.

If you have a family of 4 or less, I'd stick with the 40 gallon.
At least a 50 gallon water heater...60 gallon would be better so you don't run out of hot water if company is staying over...

My kitchen flick mixer tap is leaking. How do I open the tap and get to the washer??

Inside the tap is a couple of sliding ceramic plates, there is no washer as such like the old taps.

You can usually unscrew the body as it is in 2 pieces, once you remove it from the sink first.

You can buy a kit to repair the more expensive brand taps, which includes new ceramic parts etc.

I tried to repair my tap once, i only made it worse, and i am a friggin mechanical engineer, so i am no dud handyman.

I asked the guys at the plumbing shop and they told me to buy a new one, not worth the repair effort, even theogh they aren't cheap to buy

  • I need 2 no if I can put microfiber cushion covers in washer.?

i was told that i could wash them on gentle cycle w/out drying them but there are no tags on the cushions themselves that say how to clean them at all. i thought that getting an upholstrey cleaner (or a carpet cleaner on upholstery setting) might work better. i just need a way to clean them w/out having to sponge them clean. (there are some fairly large stains such as coffee %26amp; chocolate so dabbing them clean isn't an option.)I need 2 no if I can put microfiber cushion covers in washer.?
Microfiber itself is a finely woven polyester, and may therefore be washed and dried on mild (i.e. permanent press or warm) settings.

However, if there are other materials involved, like interfacings or linings, those might shrink and therefore render your covers useless unless washed gently in cold water and dried on a line or on a tumble setting. If the whole construction is microfiber and contains no other materials, either in the construction or as a trim, then you're safe washing and drying just like any other polyester.

Hops that helps-- DaveI need 2 no if I can put microfiber cushion covers in washer.?
use the washer , cold and dont dry, they might shrink but i dont think the washer will hurt them.

All of them that I have found so far don't spin and quite frankly, you may as well wash by hand if you gotta ring 'em out yourself!

In Europe you can buy stand alone centrifuge for laundry - they are not counter top or table top, though. They spin the clothes dry enough to iron.

What would cause a GE Profile washer to continue to fill and immediately empty once it fills?

I have a GE profile top loading washer that will fill with water and once it reaches the top level it will immediately begin to pump the water out. Then it will fill again and empty all the water again? What would cause a GE Profile washer to continue to fill and immediately empty once it fills?
Let me answer with a question, Are you sure the water is being PUMPED out? If the drain hose is inserted too far into the drain pipe it will siphon out the tub without the pump running. This is a common problem for the newer washers. If the pump is actually pumping out the water then some of the other answers may apply. What would cause a GE Profile washer to continue to fill and immediately empty once it fills?
Wahing machine pump will work as the water reach level sensor.

If water touch on high level sensor the water will pumped out and if water reach low level sensor then pump will fill water .

You might check position of these sensor and adjusted it if needed.

No it won't hurt anything but you will probably dump some residual water out of it.Is it bad to lay a washer down when moving it ?
you can damage your washer if you leave it on its side when moving ,some of the parts which can be broken ,depending on the brand include-broken tub retainers ,main transmission seal, main tub water seal ,broken motor brackets ,transmission gasket leaks ,snubber pad detachment ,all these parts are designed to be in a vertical position when thy are turned on there sides they can failIs it bad to lay a washer down when moving it ?
I wouldnt worry about it. You wouldnt want to leave it that way for extended periods of time, but for a short time while moving it you should be fine.

Now a refrigerator, air conditioner or anything with a compressor in it you dont want to lay on its side.

Does anyone know of a decent washer/dryer?

I have owned at least 3 and with each one the heating cycle keeps on and on breaking down after a year.Does anyone know of a decent washer/dryer?
You should probably get a Whirlpool or Maytag.

However, when the heating cycle breaks down, chances are that the heating element has broken.

Look at the 2nd link -- a heating element for a Whirlpool cost $25! You should be able to print out instructions and find a ';family carpenter'; who can install it for $100-$125 AT MOST.

    MayTag ,, the best
I would not buy Maytag front loader aka Neptune washer or dryer. Had Maytag top loaders for 20 plus years and they still wash and dry better than brand new Maytag Neptune junk. If the electronic module on Neptune washer or dryer goes out - you can almost buy a new machine for the cost of repairs. I guess the Maytag guy got too lonely and thought he could buy friends for what they charge for their machines. My son repairs for an independent shop and he says most other people do not like the newer Maytags either. I have heard good things about Fisher %26amp; Paykel but just from two owner/friends, no personal experience. Hope this helps.
    I love my Maytag

Now, once the engine gets hot, it stalls out. I assume the lines or carb got gummed up. Any ideas how to clean it out?I have a gasoline powered pressure washer, in which I forgot to add gas stabilizer before winter.?
carb cleaner that you put in a car gas tank. but just put about 1/4 of a cup also check the air filter.I have a gasoline powered pressure washer, in which I forgot to add gas stabilizer before winter.?
the carb may be gummed up but first suck/dump the gas in it out. drain the bowl on the carb and put in new gas and give it a go. if no good then just pull the carb and tank off and clean it out good with carb cleaner, wires and compressed air. if you say what engine you have im sure someone can tell you exactly what to do.
    okay.

    1. make sure the off switch is turned ON

    2. check for spark at the spark plug

    3. change fuel (empty it)

    4. clean plug and try to restart.

    wish you well...

sorry you said it was running... let me think... make sure you do not let the pressure build up in the hose-- you have to keep the pressure bleed off of these machines or they can stalh... wish you well
It could be the carburetor. If it is the best thing to do is remove it and clean it properly. When it quits I would check the spark. If there is no spark it may be the ignition module.
Be sure to check the oil in the engine and pump. If it is low, it will overheat and stall out.

I bought a new washer from Circuit City in 2000. I had a repair man out in July 2006 and he said that the ';transportation pins'; were never removed when delivered. How much damaged and/or extra wear and tear could this have caused? Please help. Thank you to all.How much damage to a Whirlpool washer when transportation pins never removed when delivered in 2000.?
I don't think that there would have been any damage done but I am sure that it will spin the clothes dry without walking across the room.

I am miffed as to why you are asking this question though as the repairman that discovered the pins still in place should have been able to tell you better since he could see what everything looked like.

Fortunately if the pins were not removed there was no extra wear and tear on anything. The machine's suspension was just disabled and I am sure that you had the machine walking across the floor with just a slightly unbalanced load. How much damage to a Whirlpool washer when transportation pins never removed when delivered in 2000.?
I gotta know? How did you not notice the problem for 6 years. It should of walked every time it went into spin.

My lacy undies are starting to tear up in the washer. should i start handwashing them?

unless you have a delicate cycle you should. If they are real lacy you should have been handwashing them from the start...don't ask why I know that.My lacy undies are starting to tear up in the washer. should i start handwashing them?
Yeah probably, that might be best. Or try a lighter cycleMy lacy undies are starting to tear up in the washer. should i start handwashing them?
I use Forever New in a bit of cool water in the sink....lacy undies don't remain lacy for long if you use the washing machine. Another trick is to use one of those mesh laundry bags and set the washer to delicate.
you should wash your lacy the same way you wash your bras get with it
They make a ';mesh';garment bag ,you can put them all in,then, toss the bag and all into the washer, and dryer. It protects them from rubbing against the other garments in the machines, thereby, making them last longer, and stay as nice as when you bought them.
    Yes, or try the most gentle setting on your washer, there should be one for ';hand-washables.';
Handwash them, same thing goes for your bras. It's tempting to just throw them in the washer; but after a while the washer will warp and bend the wires if it is an underwire bra. Not only that, bras are notorious for getting tangled in everything else in the load!! Woolite works great for this purpose, especially for lacy lingerie. :)
Absolutely! You should handwash all your delicates, bras and underwear. Don't use Tide or Woolite because they leave a residue on any synthetic fabrics, eventually causing the fibers to dry out. Try to use hair shampoo or dish soap. Never EVER put your delicates in the dryer...air dry always.
Hand wash and lay flat to dry, the material is delicate.
If you are using the regular cycle, try using the delicate cycle. That is how I've done mine for years without damage. Also, I don't use regular detergents, I use Woolite for delicates. And, I wash bras and panties in a delicate mesh bag for extra protection in a load all of their own.
either hand wash or get one of those mesh bags to keep them from getting torn any further. I'd go for handwashing though, just to be safe.
Hand wash or gentle cycle with like clothes.
Always handwash sensitive material. Otherwise, use a mesh bag and wash with woolite on delicate and lay flat to air dry.
You can wash them on gentle in a mesh laundry bag, it works really well
    Yes
    i would say yes
have you tried the gentle cycle????
Yes. OR if your washer has a handwash setting then use that. that's the one I use for all my ';delicates'; %26amp; they're all fine.
wash them is washing machine in a mesh bag.

How many times have you done laundry and put six pair (12)of socks in the washer/dry and gotten five and half?

so where does that odd single sock go too

what happens to itHow many times have you done laundry and put six pair (12)of socks in the washer/dry and gotten five and half?
    Every time!

I have said it once, and I will say it again, it is a communist conspiracy. How many times have you done laundry and put six pair (12)of socks in the washer/dry and gotten five and half?
Sometimes the sock gets sucked into the lint trap area. More often a sock is dropped on the way from the washer to the dryer and ends up under or between the machines. There is the sock monster theory, however.

To alleviate the problem buy only one type and color of socks. Even though your fashion sense might be somewhat hampered, your loss will be less devastating.
That happens all the time in my house which is why all my socks are the same and then it eventually evens out.
I usually am always missing one.:)

    Merry Christmas!
be happy its only socks i have so many shirts i dont know what happened to them!
hahah it fallls somewhere? god steals it to make ur life just a little more challenging
I am very particular with socks, I put them in lingerie bags in their pairs so as not to lose them... and yet but the time they are dry at LEAST one is missing, usually two or three. I never find them. My machine eats them.
you have a one legged man in your area. everyone does!!
I have debated this problem for years and come to the conclusion that there is a sock monster that lives in my washing machine. He only eats ONE sock. I dont know why.
    Greg,

Try looking on the floor under your washer %26amp; dryer.

Also, look against the wall behind the w%26amp;d.

If that fails, as it does for me, I can only think

that the black hole at the center of the Milkey

Way has been eating them. They have gone

through that worm hole to some other universe.

Your coach is right, salt does prevent fading of your new clothes. Just click on the link below and it will tell you how to do it.

http://ca.search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF鈥?/a>Does salt not make color fade when washing in the washer?
in the money you'd spend with salt ruining your clothes (being so abrasive) you'd better spend your money on a better quality detergent.
SALT DOES NOT PREVENT COLOR FADE, IT IS A MYTH. AND TO WASH YOUR PANTS USE BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR ALONG WITH YOUR NORMAL BRAND OF WASHING POWDER. YOU MAY ALSO USE IT FOR EVERYDAY WASHING.
yes it keeps the colour in and makes them feel less new like straight from the shop which isnt nice.. it basicall settles colours and dyes before washing. i wouldnt put it in the wash. we tend to soak brand new towels and stuff in it for overnight then wash and they last longer without feeling and smelling shop new

Can you use a pedestal when stacking your front load washer/dryer?

I was told I could not use a pedestal when stacking my new front load washer/dryer. The washer is just to low for me. I don't have room to set them side by side. Can you use a pedestal when stacking your front load washer/dryer?
You could, but you could also be in for a heap of trouble, too. Like with your washer--when that rascal gets to spinning, it can really cause problems. And if it falls off, then what? Sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth, friend. Can you use a pedestal when stacking your front load washer/dryer?
I don't see what you are trying to say. In my experience a pedestal goes UNDER the washer and dryer for supported height. Well that's what I thought, we bought them for our washer and dryer and they do their job well lol :3 (Nice storage space in it!)
You should double check with the manufacturer. Front load washers have a lot of torque. Some manufacturers do better at dealing with this than others.

Which is the best option for saving money: renting a washer & dryer, buying used ones, or the laundromat?

The prices I'm working with are about $1 each for a wash and dry, or rent them from an apartment complex for ~$25-30. I haven't checked an outside rental company for prices yet. Also, if I were to buy, I'd probably keep them for at least 4 years.Which is the best option for saving money: renting a washer %26amp; dryer, buying used ones, or the laundromat?
I would recommend purchasing a used washer and dryer. The laundromat cost will add up, and it is a hassle! By the time you rent for a year from your apartment complex, you will probably have spent the same amount as if you had purchased used ones. Don't even bother checking outside rental companies. With the interest charges, you will end up paying more than if you had just outright bought a NEW washer and dryer. One more benefit of owning your own is that when you are ready to get rid of them, (no matter how old they are) you can always sell them to get a little bit of your money back.Which is the best option for saving money: renting a washer %26amp; dryer, buying used ones, or the laundromat?
we bought a used washer and dryer for our son for his first apartment off of craigslist.org in our area for $300.00. they were a very high quality and it was cheaper than driving to a laundromat, waiting for the washer and dryers and plugging in quarters or renting them from the complex. i don't know how much it costs to rent them but i am sure its expensive. the thing is once you are finished with them you can donate them and take it off your taxes or sell them to someone else. if you think about it for 4 yrs. that is 208 weeks, if you do two loads a week and it costs $1.00 to wash and a $1.00 to dry then that is $2.00 per load, twice a week - $4.00 per week times 208 weeks is $832.00. now we both know that most ppl do more than two loads a week and its costs more than $2.00 to wash and dry so it would be a lot more. and thats not considering the cost of detergent, softeners and the hassle...my advice look up craigslist.org or freecycle.org and follow the links to your area and see if anyone is selling or giving away a washer/dryer. when you get them home wipe both down inside and out with a anti-bacterial soap and warm water then spray with lysol.
The best way to save money is to purchase your own washer and dryer. And to further save money hang your clothes out to dry on a clothes line out doors when the weather permits.
Look at the prices of used appliances and compare that to what you will spend at a laundromat. It depends upon how many loads of laundry you do in a week and the convenience of not hauling tubs of laundry out of your home. Most used appliances will have a warranty for 30 days to one-year, depending upon the dealer.
Definitely buy a used washer and dryer. You will probably be able to find one near you at: http://www.craigslist.com.

I rented mine for three years previously and could have purchased a really nice set instead. Then I brought my clothes to the laundromat but that was costing $20/week. Now I've purchased them and they will last for ages.

How can i tell if my motor couple on my washer is broken?

it is making a lound clanky noise and won't spinHow can i tell if my motor couple on my washer is broken?
You have answered your own question. The washing machine will make a loud clanky noise and will not spin. Mine (Kenmore Speed Queen) did the same thing. I went to a SEARS parts warehouse and bought a new coupling for $7.00. It took me about 15 minutes to replace and now it works great.

    Good Luck!!!

My front loading clothes washer isnt spinning well, my clothes are still dripping wet. Any ideas?

i think the drum may be loose. My front loading clothes washer isnt spinning well, my clothes are still dripping wet. Any ideas?
It could be that or that your water pump is shot which is much more likely, its happened to my neighbour who paid a lot of money for hers and shes blown 2 motors and 3 water pumps in 5 years so its been a costly experience for her, theres really no way to tell without looking at it, if its the drum loose it would give of a thumping noise each time it turned and you'd really know about it, so my money is on the pump! :)My front loading clothes washer isnt spinning well, my clothes are still dripping wet. Any ideas?
I just paid $70 for a repair guy to come out and tell me it is the way I'm loading the clothes and what cycle I put it on and it confuses the computer so that it doesn't go into a full spin-- well it did just fine for 2 years now all of a sudden it does it every so often just because??? I f I even think twice i put it on heavy duty it seems to do better??
sounds like the pump has broken.

the drum cannot spin as it is too heavy with all the water inside.

    to rescue your clothes...

get a strong black binbag and selotape one side of the opening just below the door.

put the binbag inside the laundry basket, as a sort of waterproof liner.

hold the binbag open as you open the door, to catch water and clothes.

see if the machine will spin when empty.

i have changed pumps in several machines,, they are fiddly but not complicated.

if you don't think you can change it, call out a repair man!

you can tell him if it spins on empty and he can work out what the problem is
Mine come out like that alot if I don't have the max extract button pushed or if I have it set up for a second rinse or if I have an unbalanced load in there. Try washing just one or two items and that should be an indication if there is something wrong with the machine or the process. My maytag (purchased early 2000's) had to have alot of servicing due to faulty belts. If you have a maytag you might want to consider that too...

firstly try doing smaller loads, it could be that your putting too much stuff in. i know if i put too much in on a 30' cycle it doesn't spin properly. if that doesn't helpmthen u know theres defo a mehcanical problem with it. i hope its still under its guarentee otherwise its going to cost u
make sure you are not overloading. a belt may be loose on the drum, sounds like you need to call the repair man
